Awkward Elevator Talk

Some days ago, I entered into a elevator. It was a rather small, and full elevator. This is what I heard:

“I told his mother yesterday that I’m going to the court for a divorce. I gave him too many chances already and he still keeps getting high around our daughter. So I told his mom that I’m divorcing him, and I’m taking full custody of our daughter. He started crying saying that I shouldn’t take his daughter away from him, that I should give him another chance. I’m done, how many chances am I gonna give this pendejo?”

So I ask you, good people of the Internet, is that a conversation that should be had in a small crowded elevator, or should she have waited until we all got off? I mean, we don’t need to know your personal business like that. I had never formally met this person before, yet I now know that she has a daughter, a husband who’s a drug abuser, and a potentially nasty divorce proceeding up ahead. Is that something that a perfect stranger should pick up from awkward elevator talk?
