One day I was asked, what do you think is better, dating someone, or do you support prostitution? Relationship or paid sex? The discussion occurred years ago, a friend of mine was trying to make the case as to why he preferred prostitution over relationships. This applied to dating, as well as men who cheat on their partners.
He said, “Angel, why would you go and waste time trying to court someone, or risk getting caught with someone, when you could simply go to a place, pay, get what you want, and then leave. With a paid transaction, there is no drama, there is no confusion, no guess work, the cards are on the table. You want sex, they want your money, and everyone is happy.” Are you against, or do you support prostitution?
I remember pointing out all the risks associated with this. Diseases, the fact that it was and still is a crime in NYC, not to mention that there is always the chance that some of those individuals could be underage, or doing this against their will. Of course, what about morals, isn’t this wrong of you? Well, I guess that depends on your politics and life views, in his case, nothing wrong with it.
He agreed with the risks about disease, but countered that you run the same risk by hooking up with anyone out there. He stated that prostitutes go out of their way to protect their bodies and safety, so he believed they could actually be safer, all things considered. “How do you know that a woman is really of age? How do you know that she’s not going to cry rape? There’s always a risk.”
In regards to the criminal aspect of it, he shrugged it off and stated that it was a risk he was willing to take. I don’t know much on the topic, but I think if you get caught with your pants down, you could be deemed a sex offender for this type of thing. That’s not a good thing, sex offender is not a label you want attached to your name.
All morality issues aside, I’m not gonna lie to y’all, he made some valid points about no strings attached, getting what you want and moving on, but the risks far outweigh the benefits here, don’t you think? Unless you live in Nevada which eliminates much of the risks, but still leaves some present.
