Talking about rock band 2 sale over the phone with a potential buyer, buyer will be called “b” henceforth:
–
B: I’m sure we can negotiate a good price.
Me: Yeah I bought this thing and paid an arm and a leg for it was pretty expensive.
B: You must have gotten it when it first came out, its pretty cheap and on sale now. Like $100.
Me: Ah, I see. I paid a lot more for it. But I’m taking a pretty big hit on it for $80.
B: Yeah I saw it for 100 on sale brand new! You must have bought it when it first came out..
Me: I think if you saw it for 100, you are better off paying the extra 20 bucks for a brand new, total warranty, rock band 2 special edition.
B: You seem like a good guy, I’m sure we can come to a fair agreement.
(I don’t think the whole kit goes for 100, so I’m calling the bluff)
Me: 80 is a fair agreement. It cost me a lot more.
B: How about 70?
Me: That’s fine, we can do 70.
B: Ok, I’ll reach out to you then. I’m sure we can reach a fair agreement.

It was a pretty funny convo, we were both cordial, and passive, but also making our points. Like I said in the ad, I am not desperate to make the sale, I’ll make it whenever. I won’t go under 70 for it. Someone offered me 30 bucks for my bindings which I listed at 80. What kind of negotiating is that? Over 50% less than the asking price. They must have missed the part where I state I AM NOT DESPERATE!
Let’s see how this all plays out, or if another buyer comes along, then I’ll just sell it to them. I don’t really care who buys it, I just want to get a couple of my invested dollars back..
